The conference was organized by the Central Research and Development Center for Packaging COBRO in Warsaw and the Center for Polymer and Carbon Materials of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The conference was held under the honorary patronage of the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of the Environment.

The conference topics covered the following issues: the global market for biodegradable polymers for packaging production, experience in the processing of biodegradable polymers, research on new biodegradable polymers, examples of compostable packaging applications, research and certification systems for biodegradable packaging suitable for composting, barriers to the development of the domestic market for biodegradable packaging, selective collection systems for compostable packaging.

The conference presented current knowledge on technological progress and development of the packaging market, as well as achievements of national research institutes, presenting the development prospects of biodegradable materials and legal requirements for them. The conference was attended by over 80 people. During the conference, the results of the MARGEN project were also promoted – “New generation packaging materials made of organically recyclable polymer material”.
