EPF EUPOC 2027 Conference

The European Polymer Federation (EPF) in collaboration with Italian Association of Macromolecular Science and Technology (AIM) is honored and pleased to announce the organization of EUropean POlymer Conference on “Polymer at Phase Boundaries” (EUPOC 2027) to be held in Bertinoro (Italy), May 23-27, 2027.

EUPOC 2027 will offer a platform to discuss the main challenges facing this important research field, bringing together worldwide scientists, engineers, and students working on every aspect of polymers at phase boundaries such as at interfaces, surfaces, etc.

When one is interested in polymer science, one will notice that polymers are often positioned at phase boundaries: polymer surfaces and thin films, polymer-organic liquid interfaces, within polymer colloidal dispersions, immiscible polymer-polymer interfaces such as those encountered in polymer blends, at the interfaces of inorganic nano-objects and/or reinforcing fibres in the case of composite materials. Experimentally exploring and modelling the behavior of polymers at phase boundaries, i.e. their conformations and dynamics as well as their morphology, are essential for understanding the physical behavior of multiphase and dispersed systems and materials, wetting, adhesion and interface stability phenomena, etc. The ability to describe polymers at the interfaces then allows a control of interfacial and surface reactions, adsorption, thermal or charge transfer and diffusion phenomena.

The conference will be based on plenary lectures, oral communications, and poster presentations.

Major addressed topics will be the following:

•    Polymer surfaces: Design, adsorption, wetting, and adhesion phenomena

Polymer as thin films and in foams

Polymers at in interfaces in dispersed media

Polymers  at interfaces between immiscible components:  polymer blends and composites, coatings, etc

Methods for characterization of polymers at interfaces

Modelling and simulation of polymers at phase boundaries, thermodynamics of phase separation, etc
